Hydrogen Europe is the European hydrogen umbrella organization representing more than 20 national associations and over 180 member companies. The fuel cell and hydrogen industries represented by Hydrogen Europe together with the European research community and the European Commission form the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) as a public-private partnership that promotes research, technology development and demonstration on fuel cells and hydrogen energy technologies in Europe.

Jorgo Chatzimarkakis has been Secretary General of Hydrogen Europe since 2016 and is now CEO. Before he was Representative of Infineon Technologies in Brussels and Member of the European Parliament (2004 – 2014) inter alia in the ITRE Committee (Industry, Technology, Research and Energy) where he could contribute to lay the cornerstone for the first and the second Joint Undertaking on hydrogen and fuel cells. In 2007 he was elected “MEP of the year” by his colleagues of the European Parliament in the category “Research and Innovation”.
