Industry Experts Highlight Solar Sector's Exponential Growth and Challenges in Energy Transition at Transformational Event

Some experts predict that the solar industry will be larger than the automotive industry by 2030. The gross gold series plays a key role in the energy transition and is growing exponentially. Renewable energies are now ubiquitous and their importance is clearly noticeable. There are many aspects that should not be overlooked: Today, we reflect not only as industry professionals, but also as energy transition warriors to challenge the status quo and drive it forward. The transformation requires immense energy - similar to physics, it requires overcoming inertia towards a dynamic future. Digital technologies and innovation tools can make this process more efficient, but regulation and traditional habits remain significant challenges. Our speakers today have gained valuable insights through their experiences, which they would now like to share with us. The programme will start with individual contributions from each speaker followed by an open discussion in the last 30 minutes for questions from the audience. Our first speaker is Harald Ott, Head of Demand Response at Verbund and pioneer in the field of energy transition. The focus will be on developing sustainable and resilient energy models while inviting the audience to actively participate in this journey.

Our European energy system is undergoing a major transformation, moving towards decentralization with increased penetration of distributed energy resources (DERs) connected to the grid, such as PV solar, battery storage, and EVs. While DERs provide clear benefits such as limiting costs, reducing CO2 emissions, and helping to empower consumers, there are still challenges to overcome to develop DERs to their full potential. This session will focus on best practices and innovative projects, both from a grid and user perspective (e.g. energy communities) and we will discuss how the regulatory framework can be improved to facilitate the penetration of DERs and active participation from consumers.
